Meet the women behind PERSEUS
Women have contributed to science for centuries, often long before they had the same access to universities, recognition or leadership opportunities as their male colleagues. Our new Women in Science webpage connects this history with the women contributing to PERSEUS today.
The page begins with a timeline tracing key milestones in women’s contributions to science – from Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia and Laura Bassi to advances in surface science, thin films and solar technologies that connect with the research areas explored within PERSEUS today.
At the heart of the page are the women behind PERSEUS. Today, women represent approximately 40% of the people involved in the project and hold 50% of all Work Package leadership roles, including WP Leaders and Deputy WP Leaders. They contribute across scientific, technical, management and other project roles.
Through individual profiles, you can meet some of these women and learn more about their research, role in PERSEUS, the work they are contributing to and what excites them about their field. The first profiles introduce women in Work Package leadership roles as well as women holding senior positions within organisations across the PERSEUS consortium.
And there are more stories to share. The Women in Science webpage will continue to be updated with additional profiles, introducing more women working across different disciplines, career stages and roles within the PERSEUS community.
